I represent individuals across California who have been harmed by police officers, sheriff’s deputies, jails, and other government agencies. As a former prosecutor, I know how these institutions operate from the inside, and I use that knowledge to hold them accountable.

Civil Rights Cases We Handle

  • Police Misconduct and Excessive Force

    When an officer uses force that is unreasonable or unnecessary, the law provides a remedy. I bring claims under federal and state civil rights laws on behalf of people who have been beaten, wrongfully detained, or otherwise brutalized by law enforcement. These cases demand a lawyer who is not intimidated by the government, and I have built my practice on standing up to it.

  • Abuse in Jails and Prisons

    People do not surrender their constitutional rights at the jailhouse door. I represent incarcerated people and their families in cases involving unlawful strip searches, sexual misconduct by custody staff, dangerous conditions, and the failure to protect people in custody. I am currently co-lead counsel in a federal class action on behalf of women subjected to an unlawful mass strip search in a San Francisco jail.

    Speaking up about government misconduct takes courage, and the law protects those who do. I represent clients who have faced retaliation from officers or institutions for reporting abuse, filing complaints, or pursuing their claims.
